Help with sudden cubase 8.5 crash!

Post by jaywave » Fri Jul 07, 2017 10:09 pm

All help is greatly appreciated here as im in the middle of a score and Cubase has decided to mess me about.

Today when opening existing project I get the "Cubase 8 has stopped working" error. This happens on all saved versions and backups of the same project

heres the error log in event viewer (if anyone understands it) as Cubase wont create a crash report

*Note - Cubase was crashing when loading loopmash and I was getting the following report:

Faulting application name: Cubase8.5.exe, version: 8.5.30.192, time stamp: 0x58ad9164
Faulting module name: LoopMash_x64.vst3, version: 2.0.0.776, time stamp: 0x509a53f5
Exception code: 0xc0000005

Report Id: 1d565ac4-6354-11e7-8991-94de80b35bbc

...So I removed Loopmash and now get this one:

Faulting application name: Cubase8.5.exe, version: 8.5.30.192, time stamp: 0x58ad9164
Faulting module name: wwf5116.tmp_unloaded, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x58dcf637
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000000149703e26
Faulting process id: 0x604
Faulting application start time: 0x01d2f7631e26a325
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 8.5\Cubase8.5.exe
Faulting module path: wwf5116.tmp
Report Id: 9823c211-6356-11e7-bde7-94de80b35bbc

Again, if anyone can help, you have my eternal thanks. Im not bothing with Steinbergs contact support as they never reply.

Update for anyone maybe with similar problems.

I noticed the crash was happening when the project was loading a certain vocal track. I knew this track only had the cubase pitch correct plugin on.

so...

I opened the project on cubase 6.5 on another PC i had. It opened fine. i deleted the pitch correct plugin on the track, saved project and opened back on 8.5.

All works now. So me thinking and blaming a third party plugin was wrong when its Cubase own plugin.
